Admissions Notification
The New Castle County Vo-Tech Admissions policy aims to provide as many students as possible with the opportunity to attend. However, safety regulations in career labs and available classroom space limit the number of students that can be accepted each year.
- 8th-grade applicants who apply by the second Wednesday in January and are selected for admission to Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard, or St. Georges will be notified in early March.
- Accepted students must confirm their acceptance by submitting a Student Registration Form within three weeks of receiving their notification.
- All admissions are provisional until the student meets promotion requirements (see details below).
Students who are not offered admission will also be notified in early March. These students may be considered for admission later if openings become available (see Application Reconsideration below).
Delaware Promotion Requirements
Admission is provisional until the student’s final 8th-grade report card is received. To be promoted and eligible for attendance at an NCC Vo-Tech high school, students must meet their current school district and state promotion requirements, which include:
- A passing final grade in English, and
- A passing grade in at least one other core academic class (Math, Science, or Social Studies).
Students who do not meet these requirements will lose their eligibility to attend an NCC Vo-Tech high school
Application Reconsideration
Some students who receive admission offers may not accept, which creates limited openings. Students who were not initially offered admission can be reconsidered for these openings by submitting an updated report card (e.g., 2nd, 3rd, or 4th marking period) to:
